Goodbye, 2021. It’s been a wild journey! When we leave a year later, it’s time to start looking ahead.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the last two years, it’s that you never know what the year will bring. That’s why these days I’m more focused than ever on creating special experiences instead of just marking countries from my must-see list.
So for 2022, let’s talk about adventures that you can experience anytime, anywhere. It doesn’t matter if you stay close to home or travel internationally, these wish list items refer to the experience, rather than the destination.
Whether it’s luxury or budget in Bali or Boston, here are 12 epic experiences for the next 12 months.
Going on a solo trip
Going on a solo trip is one of my number one recommendations for ANYONE and although I have done it countless times, it is continuously on my annual list.
Make this your year. Instead of focusing on what you want to change about yourself during the new year, let’s talk about what you will accept. Explore the things you love and treat yourself.
Traveling alone gives you the opportunity to delve into your destinations and discover the things you really enjoy.
I know it’s intimidating to get out there, and that’s what makes it so rewarding. Grab my package of solo travel guides and get inspired. Whether you dare to cross the world alone or give yourself an elegant dinner, this is your year to go out.

Take a caravan trip
Renting an RV was another of my highlights of 2021 and it is definitely one for your wish list. Making popcorn and roasting blackberries in front of an airstream was a perfect getaway. Eliminating all distractions will give you time to connect and relax completely.
It also opened my eyes to the amazing options out there.
If there’s one thing I’ve been taught for the last two years, it’s that you don’t have to go very far to live an adventure! I’m in San Diego and California has a lot of great campsites, but to be perfectly honest, it doesn’t matter where you live!
Going outdoors and making memories is what it’s all about. ⁇
Take a romantic getaway
What’s better than spending time with that special person? Although it sounds cliché, it’s crucial to run away together from time to time. Embark on a romantic whirlpool getaway that will bring fresh air to your relationship and your life.
Exploring the most romantic hotels in the world, whether in your hometown or around the world, and luxury with your favorite person in the world is the best pleasure.
Isn’t it really a bubble bath and champagne for two types of girls? Get physical! Get off the beaten path. Getting away with a couple of adventures will make your heart beat faster. Jump together from a plane. Get to know the mating habits of penguins. Explore the open world.
Take a trip for girls
Gather the entire crew for a bridal getaway.
Make it glamorous in Las Vegas and dance until dawn. Connect with your best friends and yourself in a wellness retreat (by the way, arranging a wellness retreat with your friends is easier than you think).
It’s too easy to get caught up in life and disconnect from your friends. Only one night can change everything. Whether it’s sweatpants and chick movies or mini sequins and cocktails at sunrise, it’s always worth it.
Go on a trip with your mother
Of all the older women in the world, my mom is at the top of my list, and probably yours too! So why not treat it? Plan a special getaway. Create memories together.

Plan a stay in your city
There has never been a better time to master the art of the stay. Explore your city like a tourist. Book a room in the most beautiful hotel in the city. She lives like a queen without setting foot in the airport.
You don’t have to cross the world to live the adventure of a lifetime. Wherever you live, I bet there are amazing gems right outside your door where you fly every day.
Take the time to visit a local gallery. Get on a tour bus. Walk through the forest. Do whatever you normally don’t.

Walk through a state or national park
As much as I love going to a faraway place, it’s not the most sustainable hobby. That’s why I’m always looking for ways to reduce my carbon footprint while fueling my urge to walk. A perfect solution I have found are state or national parks.
Driving less than an hour from home and getting lost among the tall trees and hills, I feel a million miles from home.
Exploring California’s national parks, walking the Utah Mighty 5s, soaking up the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and other amazing national parks around the world, is literally a breath of fresh air.
Go camping
Camping is one of the most underrated trips. From camping in California to glamping adventures in Namibia, some of my best memories of recent years have been sleeping under the stars.
Once you’ve found your new favorite national park, set up a tent. Or just head out into the backyard with lots of blackberry supplies.

Go to a wellness retreat
While I love a non-stop adventure through the world’s largest concrete jungles, sometimes it’s best to go discreetly.
From wellness excursions in Utah to quiet retreats in Tulum, sometimes you just need a little free time.
Cook a dish from another country
One of the highlights of each adventure for me is the local food! I enjoy the opportunity to eat from the top down of any country.
When we were all stuck at home and busy in the kitchen, I worked to satisfy my cravings for unknown flavors.
As a lover of devout cuisine, the next logical step was to walk around the kitchen. In case you missed it, I’ve dedicated an entire section of my blog to my most beloved recipes from around the world.

Take a sailing trip / Learn to dive
Some of the best destinations on the planet are below sea level. Why not experience the beauty of deep blue beyond with an adventure at sea?
Sailing the Greek islands, taking a yacht through Sicily or sailing the Virgin Islands is a dream trip.
If you are ready to dive in, consider learning how to dive. Granted, I was a little nervous about taking the plunge, but it was well worth it. Getting my dive certificate opened up a whole new world for me.
