Low-cost carrier Sun Country Airlines is adding a new non-stop route to Cancun.

On June 1, the carrier will begin a new route between Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas, and Cancun International Airport.

The new flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, another new route to the rapidly expanding destination of the Mexican Caribbean.

“We are excited to provide travelers with affordable access to exciting new destinations,” said Grant Whitney, director of revenue for Sun Country Airlines. “We look forward to welcoming guests on board to enjoy our many amenities, such as free on-board entertainment, free non-alcoholic beverage service and comfortable reclining seats with power on the way seat to your next fantastic holiday.”

Cancun has been one of the fastest growing airports in the Caribbean region since the beginning of the pandemic, with tourism in the area close to pre-pandemic levels.
