For us, everything is a good excuse to get together to celebrate with family and friends with a good plate of food, happy music to sing and dance, decorate the house and why not, some drinks to toast the past and what comes  .  <\/p>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t know what the Dia de Muertos celebration is about, you could say it&#8217;s just that, a family gathering, but with the dead: the way to receive them is with an altar of the dead (also known as offering) in which we share what our loved one most enjoyed in life.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26560\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>This Mexican tradition has been adapted depending on the area of \u200b\u200bthe country, in each place you can find a different version of Dia de Muertos, which makes it even richer and full of folklore.  <\/p>\n<h3><strong>How alive is the tradition of the Day of the Dead in Platja del Carme <\/strong> <\/h3>\n<p>Speaking of Playa del Carmen, which is located in the Riviera Maya, very close to Cancun, we know that in addition to being a tourist destination, it is also a very young city that is made up of a local community that has come to live here from all sides.  of Mexico and the world.  <\/p>\n<p>Here, added to what each person does at home, our most popular way to celebrate Dia de Muertos is at the Festival of Traditions of Life and Death in Xcaret, an event that has already had more than 15 editions and is held in on October 30 and 31 and November 1 and 2.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26540\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>You get a taste of what&#8217;s going on at this festival every year.  <\/p>\n<h4><strong>1.- We are all catrinas and catrinas.<\/strong> <\/h4>\n<p>One of the best things about this event is seeing hundreds of people arrive dressed as catrinas, whether it&#8217;s a head-to-toe outfit or just the make-up. It&#8217;s wonderful to see how the Xcaret park is transformed during these days with these traditional decorations. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/1667509551_988_This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26548\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-blog-xcaret-lee-sobre-viajes-gastronomia-naturaleza-y-cultura-en-blog-xcaret wp-block-embed-blog-xcaret-lee-sobre-viajes-gastronomia-naturaleza-y-cultura-en-blog-xcaret\"\/>\n<h4><strong>4.- Making D\u00eda de Muertos themed crafts <\/strong> <\/h4>\n<p>One of the favorite activities of the festival&#8217;s most creative visitors is to make crafts using different techniques such as clay, painting, ceramics, weaving with wool, Huichol art and more.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/1667509552_80_This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26545\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition to enjoying all these Day of the Dead activities, at the Xcaret Siempre Festival of Life and Death we can learn something new, since every year there is a different guest state.  There are several reasons for this, one being that the community of Cancun and Playa del Carmen can always find a variety of attractions year after year.  <\/p>\n<p>Likewise, it is also a great opportunity for these guest states to share their culture, traditions and gastronomy with visitors from all over the world who visit Xcaret.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/1667509552_145_This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26539\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>2022 guest state: Tlaxcala <\/strong> <\/h3>\n<p>And before they start saying that it doesn&#8217;t exist, Xcaret already made it very clear to us that <strong>Tlaxcala does exist<\/strong> and also that it is a place we all want to visit soon. <\/p>\n<p><strong>music<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>For 4 days, Xcaret was infected by the joy and musical rhythm of the <strong>layer of huehues <\/strong>of the Tlaxcalteca mitotl, with the remembrance of Mexican music for the soul with the <strong>Saleterios Atltzayanca<\/strong> that made us dream of falling in love again with Mexico and much more.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/1667509552_159_This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26543\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Herbalism and traditional medicine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Something I had never seen before in Xcaret was the representation of the fine arts of the<strong> prehispanic herbal<\/strong>.  In addition to selling natural products, we can also talk to herbalists and therapists who give interactive massage sessions, otic candles and much more.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"864\" height=\"648\" src=\"http:\/\/puertomorelostravelagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/1667509552_650_This-is-how-we-celebrate-the-Day-of-the-Dead.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26542\"  \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Gastronomic display <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>The food, as always, was one of the stars of the event.  The gastronomic display of Tlaxcala left nothing to be desired, on the contrary, it far exceeded the expectations of our visitors who are experts in Mexican food. This is not only the case for Xcaret, but also for Hotel Xcaret Arte, Hotel Xcaret Mexico and La Casa de la Playa.
