Just 6 miles northeast of Cancun is Isla Mujeres, a natural paradise in the state of Quintana Roo that you must visit at least once in your life. <\/p>\n
This pedagogical land of just seven kilometers in length offers a whole experience from start to finish. You will love everything there is to do in Isla Mujeres if you are a lover of adventure and also of rest. Before delving into its main tourist attractions, let me tell you a little about its history … <\/p>\n

The island was studied for the Spanish expedition commanded by Francisco Hern\u00e1ndez de C\u00f3rdoba in 1517. When the conquerors arrived and observed a large number of woman-shaped clay statues, they named it Isla Mujeres. <\/p>\n
It was not until 1975 that the island was declared a municipality of Quintana Roo. Most of its inhabitants are fishermen and divers who have lived on the island for generations and like to promote it by welcoming its visitors warmly. <\/p>\n
In 2015, Isla Mujeres received the recognition of Pueblo M\u00e1gico thanks to its natural wealth, archaeological remains and tourist attractions. <\/p>\n

Our adventure begins in the city of Cancun, in the Xcaret Island Women’s Pier <\/strong>which is located at kilometer 4.5 of the Hotel Zone. Here we board the Xcaret Xailing ferry to move to the picturesque Isla Mujeres. <\/p>\n
After a pleasant journey we arrive at the Isla Mujeres Maritime Terminal<\/strong>. The island can tax a cake, a golf cart, a motorcycle, a bicycle or a taxi. An additional option is to use the local bus line (Isle\u00f1os Bus), which has four routes around the island, passing through the main sights. <\/p>\n
Visit North Beach<\/strong>, recognized as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world for its crystal clear waters, palm trees and white sand. Other beautiful beaches that also recommend you sleep Beach Center<\/strong> y Albatross Beach<\/strong>both have Blue Flag certification. <\/p>\n

In the center of Isla Mujeres you will see a beautiful church dedicated to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception<\/strong>, patron saint of the island town. An emblematic landmark of this Pueblo M\u00e1gico. <\/p>\n
In the Captain Dulche Museum<\/strong> exhibited scale models of ancient ships, photographs and objects by Captain Ernesto Dulch\u00e9 Escalante, as well as some pieces by oceanographer, ecologist and athlete Ram\u00f3n Bravo Prieto and marine researcher Jacques Cousteau. <\/p>\n
Isla Mujeres is famous for its extraordinary scenery for snorkeling or diving. Just 15 minutes by boat, in the opposite direction Manchones Reef <\/strong>which features a 12-mile-long coral bank with majestic banks of pieces and lots of flora. It also houses the sculptures of the Underwater Museum of Art<\/strong> and the Cross of the Bay<\/strong>that pays tribute to the men and women passed away in the sea. <\/p>\n

The island was also a refuge and home for famous pirates and slave traders, such as Ferm\u00edn Mundaca and Marecheaga, who built one of the main historical sites in the destination, the Hacienda Vista Alegre, now known as the Hacienda Vista Alegre.
